In The Day of the Jackal (1973), plot is about OAS Agents trying to assassinate French president. But none of the French officials like Minister, Lebel etc speak in french accent, They all speak in British accent.

Well! My question very much similar to this question here.

  • Colonel Rolland does speak in a pronounced French accent.  Lebel also has an accent.  (As do many other French characters: Lebel's wife, Colette, and most of the gendarmes, customs officers, hotel staff, and other officials.)  You seem to be implying that the film should use a foreign accent is used to indicate a foreign language — a convention that's common, but far from universal.  In a movie such as this where practically everything said in France would be in French, the filmmakers clearly felt no need for that, and let the actors use their native accents.
