In Tom Cruise starrer Top Gun: Maverick(2022), the plan is something like this.
Get jets in the air.
Launch Tomahawk missiles on enemy airstrip.
Jets enter enemy territory
Jets navigate through valley avoiding SAM sites to reach target.
Miracle #1: Blow up air vents to expose it for payload.
Miracle #2: Send in payload to blast off nuclear enrichment plant.
Face and avoid SAM missiles and face possible enemy jets.
My question is two folds.
First, if they were able to coordinate Tomahwak missile attack from warship to enemy airstrip to stop them from getting their jets in the air, then why were they not able to coordinate and attack on enemy's SAM missile sites with same Tomahawk missiles from warship? That would had made their return easy. Isn't this a plot hole or am I missing something here?
Second, Tomahawks were shown to be flying above enemy territory before hitting the airstrip. So, why were SAM sites were not able to pick them and destroy them?
