In India, movie channels on TV broadcast the same movies again and again, to the extent that one movie is broadcast almost everyday or every alternate day on the same channel.

Why is this the case when there are so many movies made in Indian Film Industry? Why don't they purchase the rights for more movies and show more variety?

Does this question help in any way? This is talking about a specific movie & tv-channel ... movies.stackexchange.com/questions/89274/… – iandotkelly Jun 5 at 13:12
  • That question is about a specific movie, and the answer is also specific to that movie, that that movie garners good impressions even on repeated broadcast. I don't think every movie that is repeatedly broadcast garners good impressions every time. – Pranav Pal Jun 5 at 13:16

Note that all movie channels do this. And channels that broadcast TV shows will rebroadcast the same TV shows over and over again. The reasons in all cases are almost certainly the same or similar. – Todd Wilcox Jun 5 at 14:13
  • @PranavPal ... yeah, I know - but its such a recent question, I wondered whether this specific example would help in any way before someone answers your more general question in full. – iandotkelly Jun 5 at 15:58
  • Can you provide some movie names & the channels on which they are repeated. I haven't seen TV for more than 6 years so I don't know which movies are repeated. That would give a reference for research. Also it might indicate a genre trend. – KharoBangdo Jun 5 at 18:23
