Are script writing terms employed in animation the same as those employed in live-action scripts with perhaps a few exceptions?

  • Can you be more exact what you're talking about? What specific terms are you interested in? – Catija Oct 8 '17 at 3:05
  • Do you mean screenplay or shooting script? Paulie_D has covered screenplay already, but a screenplay doesn't actually contain much in the way of 'technical' information. – Tetsujin Oct 8 '17 at 7:36

Here's the Script from Toy Story

I'll have to put up an image as the text is not selectable

enter image description here

As you can see it has exactly the same terminology, structure and format as any live-action script such as The Godfather Script

It's just that in the case of animated movies, the action is "drawn" rather than acted out by actual people.

Here's the script for Toy Story 3 which does have selectable text.

  • The question isn't about the format... it's about "terms"... and I'm not really sure what they mean by that. – Catija Oct 8 '17 at 3:05
