There are obvious strong parallels but I haven't see any interviews with Mazursky or Miike discussing the Pasolini film.

The core relationship is that all three films involve a mysterious visitor who enters the life of a dysfunctional family and repairs the familial bonds. Thus, all three films share the same basic plot.

  • I think it's a fairly common trope in fiction. Also note that Down and Out in Beverly Hills is a remake of a movie that predates Teorema. – Chanandler Bong Sep 2 '16 at 7:00
  • @Chanadler Bong Nice. I was unaware of the Renoir! – DukeZhou Sep 2 '16 at 15:38
