We're experiencing a steady increase of programming being exclusively available on the Internet.

I want to better understand how the trend of online-exclusive media will change the awards systems. For example, are we moving toward a point where we would ever have a predominantly online-only list of nominees? Would there be a category devoted exclusively to this kind of content? Could there be an entire Emmy-caliber awards show solely for this format (other than the Webbys, etc.)?

Basically - does anyone have a good resource on this topic?

You're asking for a resource to outline an as yet (mostly) unrealized industry segment. Any resource that can be provided will be speculation only, unfortunately. – JohnP Jun 24 '15 at 21:00

However, I think if you more orient your question towards "How are new categories determined for awards such as the Emmies?", that would definitely be an interesting, on topic question (if it hasn't been asked yet, I didn't check), and I think cover everything you are looking for. – JohnP Jun 24 '15 at 21:02
