Sep 16, 2017 at 16:25 comment added Darrel Hoffman @Flater - Maybe in Belgium that's okay. I'm certain there'd be pitchfork and torch wielding mobs if that happened in the US. We tend to be a little uptight about that sort of thing.
Sep 8, 2017 at 11:12 comment added Flater @DarrelHoffman: Nope, it's still acceptable (this is an ad, not a movie, but it proves the point regardless). You can see that the people in the ad are surprised by the filthy lyrics, but the existence and broadcast of the ad proves that it's still acceptable to do so. Coincidentally, this is a Belgian ad, which is the country OP seems to hail from (as do I).

Mar 8, 2016 at 19:03 comment added John Sensebe @cde, no need for digital children as the other methods you outlined would suffice in most cases and be a lot less expensive. The only cases where you might need digital children is if the action were exceedingly dangerous, i.e. monster throws baby through window, or not possible with a real child, i.e. monster bites child's head off and savors its sweet, sweet baby brains.

Mar 2, 2016 at 14:22 comment added Darrel Hoffman @user3528: I'm thinking about the scene from Monty Python and the Meaning of Life, where a children's choir is involved in the song "Every Sperm is Sacred". I feel like they couldn't get away with that a anymore in modern cinema...

Nov 18, 2015 at 10:16 comment added cde Considering modern day digital movie techniques, monsters and people can be completely digital, so the child is playing against a green screen morph suit and tracking points, or simply film alternative takes, one with the child and no monster, the other without the child and the monster and merge them in. Or better, digital children, 100% digital, except for maybe a voice actor. In a couple of years, a big budget movie would have no excuse in requiring a child to act out scary things.
