May 10, 2016 at 21:58 comment added Johnny Bones IIRC, there are scenes in Romero's movies that indicate (and maybe in Dawn of the Dead were expressly vocalized) that zombies do what they did in real life and act on auto-pilot. I believe that was used as the rationale as to what drew them to the mall in Dawn of the Dead. So it's probable that Darabont drew from Romero's movies, since he's kind of the "Godfather" of zombies.
