Having her and a toddler in the middle would be an obstacle for him and officers in a huge potential shootout, but less so for murderous criminals. How much leeway, let along ability to do anything would Ness be allowed if Capone-paid newspapers sprayed "G-man Gets Mother and Baby Killed In Wild Shoot-Out" in the headlines? The entire operation would be shut down. | |
