Dec 18, 2020 at 7:21 | comment | added | Baard Kopperud | A bit OT; but both the laws and attitudes in the USA to some degree exonerates law-enforcement from the result of their actions and put it squarely on the criminals - which may cause some law-enforcement to disregard the potential for collateral casualties. There have been cases where two robbers have robbed a store and one of them is shot and killed by the police - and the other gets tried for his murder. Likewise, any death during a crime - heart-attack, being shot by police, &c - is automatically put on the criminals. Rightly so perhaps, but may give police a "not our fault" attitude.

Dec 17, 2020 at 7:50 | comment | added | Luaan | @RonJohn Perhaps, but good writing allows that to happen without crutches like "these guys are total idiots/egoistic bastards/..."
Dec 16, 2020 at 19:08 | comment | added | RonJohn | Because it's fiction, and fiction is pretty boring when all the good guys work together.
