Sometimes a determined buyer can brute-force a buyout in spite of a poison pill, but in this case they didn't have the resources. | |

Seeing one episode, of course, may not give me the entire necessary context. Nevertheless, from the dialogue the speakers are considering a hostile takeover and the person they are targeting has a poison pill contingency of one kind or another in place to prevent a takeover. | |
