Nov 21, 2020 at 4:30 comment added ruffdove Yeah, just watched the episode. So they were talking about a hostile takeover, but Gillis had a poison pill in place that they couldn't overcome. Sometimes a determined buyer can brute-force a buyout in spite of a poison pill, but in this case they didn't have the resources.
Nov 20, 2020 at 15:27 comment added BCLC right thanks anyhoo. watch when you have time, probably years from now, and then get back whenever you want to. i actually forgot the context of the scene already. maybe if i decide to rewatch suits, then i can figure it out based on the answer here and on money se
Nov 20, 2020 at 14:46 comment added ruffdove I am afraid I have not. I will look into seeing this episode and possibly adding to my answer. Seeing one episode, of course, may not give me the entire necessary context. Nevertheless, from the dialogue the speakers are considering a hostile takeover and the person they are targeting has a poison pill contingency of one kind or another in place to prevent a takeover.
Nov 20, 2020 at 6:10 comment added BCLC Thanks ruffdove. have you seen suits? i was hoping for an in-universe explanation now that i approach this with a mindset that it's possibly a poison pill
