On one hand it appeared like Ochi killed them pretty quickly and would explain why they were after Rey and not her father. On the other, if Luke can shut himself off from the force, then it's possible they could too and therefor didn't see Ochi coming (or maybe Ochi was powerful?), but I'm looking for some more definitive proof like from the EPs, Visual Dictionary, or novelization... | |
