On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

Hello! I am Nog Shine. A good friend of everyone.

I would like to nominate myself. Though I am not as old as others, I have been around enough to understand the site and become one among the community. I am not new to SE. I have experience of 20k tools on other SE communities.

  • Visited almost everyday in the past 1.5 years and am very frequent in chat. I am easily available for everyone in the need of help.
  • Always enthusiastic to help new users by editing, leaving constructive comments under their posts.
  • Though I am a bit less active in reviews, I was active in flagging. I invite discussion in the chat to include the community in review process and moderation.
  • Active on Meta considering my course of membership here. I voiced my opinions through my voting and input in chat. I am looking forward to continue it by writing posts on Meta too.
  • Most of my Meta posts are written to increase spirit in the community like Favorite questions. I will try to increase the spirit in the future by writing such posts.

I believe in community involvement in policy making. I will put my efforts (as a user and a mod) to increase that and make the site a great place for all.

Hello, there! I'm Johnny Bones and I've been involved in M&TV for quite some time. I am currently a moderator on the Music stack, so I'm familiar with moderator privileges and how to be helpful to old and new users alike, but since I'm also an avid movie fan (as you can see by my rep), I figured I'd throw my hat into the ring.

Oh, and I've got 1 of only 2 Reversal badges ever given in Meta. :o)

My answers to the Nominee Questionnaire are here: Johnny Bones

Hi! I'm sanpaco and I'd like to nominate myself for moderator of Movies & TV SE site. I've participated in the community for a little over 3 years and, enjoy both asking and answering questions.

I think a key value that moderators should have is objectivity. I will admit that I have not always done so in my interactions, but I've been impressed by the example of many in this community as a whole and have tried to emulate them. As a moderator I would continue to champion this value.

I have moderated other communities before, although not on SE. My experiences as a moderator taught me the importance of knowing when to intervene and when not to. I would do my best to follow the theory of doing as little as possible. I think the best thing a moderator can do is make sure everyone feels respected and heard as a part of the community.

I have participated minimally in Meta up to this point, but as a moderator I would take the responsibility seriously to participate in meta discussions.

I think there are a lot of good candidates here and thanks for considering me!

Questionnaire Answers

I would like to nominate myself for candidacy for M&TV moderator. I've demonstrated a knack for research and and citation of sources to back up my answers in an effort to provide good examples for all users for what formulates a strong, well researched answer, especially with some of the more technical and industry tags on the site. I do my best to guide new users to write better questions and to know what's appropriate for M&TV.

Hi! My name is A J.

I’d like to nominate myself. I have been a enthusiast fanatic user of this site for almost 3 years. I also have visited this site almost every day and have been involved in help moderating this site while contributing to the site content by asking and answering.

I have a decent history in review queues and raising flags. I have been participating in meta answering users’ concerns regarding their posts and raising certain concerns I have seen during my use of this site. Besides this, I am also active in chat.

I am used to moderator tools here and currently a pro-tem moderator on Interpersonal Skills SE which gives me experience in using moderator privileges. I always abide by the rules while helping to keep the community in shape.

My answers to the questionnaire

Hi! I'm Vishwa, and I'd like to nominate myself as a moderator for Movies and TV Stack Exchange

I guess this would be a my way of thanking and trying to give back to the community, in addition to past and ongoing contributions using the privileges and tools granted to me however they are.

I know I've much less reputation and less numbers than others, I visit this site (almost)every day.Since the day I've joined,I hope I may've succeeded on trying to get the best out from me. and I hope I was seen user who is active, fair, and helpful.

  • I know my limits. I don't mess-up what I can't understand and I get help.
  • I constantly seek to improve, will take feedback.
  • I believe Im good in communication via comments and any other medium (if)available.

Why not me

  • Low participation in meta
  • Low rep
  • Feel free to add if there's anymore

Welcome to my self nomination to become M&TV's next Moderator. My name is Paul Johnson, though some of you might know me as Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2. I've been in the community now for over five years. I'm looking forward to what could be forthcoming for M&TV as time goes on and I'd like to be a part of that if I can.

As some of you may know, I was around through M&TV graduation and for the first Moderator election. Since then I've been elected as a Moderator on Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.

I know how to judiciously be a Moderator. I love movies. I have great fondness for Stack Exchange and the people who reside here. I'm here on Stack Exchange every day of the week. In fact, I've been on Mech.SE every day since I first signed up.

What does that mean for M&TV? Voting for me means you'll be getting a Mod who will always be here and who knows how to moderate fairly. I'll work hard with my fellow Mods to ensure we are doing the best we can to serve M&TV and Stack Exchange, but mostly to ensure we serve you, the user, to the utmost of our abilities.

Hello. My name is Rand al'Thor. You called an election. Prepare to vote.

I've been contributing to this site on and off for the last 3 years. My rep here is fairly low, but that's mostly because I have quite specific watching tastes: there are a lot of tags here that I can't really participate in, and most of my Q&A have been in various sci-fi and fantasy tags.

On the other hand, I've done a lot more back-end work such as voting, editing, reviewing, flagging, and meta - hence my surprisingly large candidate score given my low rep. I'm the 4th highest raiser of helpful flags, and the 11th highest reviewer of Close Votes.

Finally, I'm already a mod on M&TV's sister site Science Fiction & Fantasy, where I've served for more than 2 years. The two sites haven't always had the best relationship, which I've worked towards improving, but maybe the best show of unity between them could be a joint moderator.

Hey you, yes you. My name is Skooba, and I'd like to nominate myself for moderator.

I've been around M&TV for over two years in a mostly casual phase, but am very active on the SE network as a whole. I care about this community and share many common interests with the core user group.

I pride myself on patience and rational decision making when it comes to moderation, but believe that majority of issues are handled by the regular users. I enjoy going through review queues on all the sites where I have earn the privilege and always welcome the opportunity to guide new users to making their contributions better while being a "friendly face".

I know I am probably not the best candidate here, but you have a zero percent chance of success if you don't even try. I welcome all feedback and will do my best to answer any questions you have.
