comment How did Sherlock survive the fall?
I am glad to see this series get some traction here. Wasn't there an odd scene at the start of the episode in which Watson gets a letter full of unidentified powder? I assumed it would be a clue to something but I think it was never referred to again.

You seem to presume that Ilsa loved Rick and that Rick knew it. Perhaps she had grown past her pre-war infatuation with Rick, and he knew it, and he was telling the truth to Laszlo in Casablanca.

comment Which audience was targeted by “Scarecrow and Mrs. King”?
Recall that at the time the series was aired, most American families had access to new programming on only thee networks; with few exceptions, programs tended to pursue broad audiences.

comment What year was The Warriors (1979) first shown on TV or cable?
I am pretty sure it showed on the Z channel before 1983, but only on the basis of personal recollection.

comment First movie with product placement?
Not your answer, but perhaps of interest -- I was struck the other day by by the blatant and extremely crude product placement for Cheerios in Superman: The Movie (1978). A box of the cereal is the focus of two or three screens, lovingly lit as the music swells, logo always to the camera. I will never remember the name of the actor who plays the young Clark Kent, but I certainly know what he ate for breakfast.

comment What was the first movie to use a cross-cutting technique like The Hours?
Interesting. I had thought Birth of a Nation was first. You learn something new every day.
