My background is in math (BMath; Waterloo) and civil engineering (BASc, MASc; Toronto). As I learned to dislike statistics when I was studying math, fate provided me with the opportunity to do a master's thesis on applying good old-fashioned statistics to hydrology with the goal of finding improved methods of estimating underlying distributions from small samples. Fortunately, this relied heavily on Monte Carlo simulation and I was able to convince myself that it was based on software instead of statistics.
I somehow ended up as a software developer working on real time control systems and ancillary applications for the broadcast industry.

Translating the Jive dialogue There are no official subtitles for the last few lines. The whole scene has no subtitles, just Barbara Billingsley's on-screen translation. But I do like Shane's version. |

Translating the Jive dialogue Note that there is a deeper and slightly mire subtle joke as well: the "older white woman" isn't just anybody, but the Barbara Billingsley, who played the archetype of the sitcom mother on the classic 1957-1963 series "Leave it to Beaver." |

Will The Hobbit be released to video with the High Frame Rate? No worries; I can understand why. You'd think it would be easier to get an answer than it has been! Good luck in your quest, Sir. |

Where is Lost Girl supposed to be based? See scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/10178/… for some answers to this from last year. It's tough to argue it takes place anywhere other than Toronto when the CN Tower is visible from the Morrigan's condo. |

Which is the first parody film? Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles paved the way for Airplane! |

What's the significance of the Disney movie intro ident? That's why I suggested they are idealizations! You can do much more with animation than with a theme park in the real world! |

What was Nicholas Van Orton's real birthday date in “The Game”? Can you remiod me how we know that the day he falls is his 48th birthday? It's been a while since I saw this. |

How did Conrad come back to life after the gunshot in “The Game”? She's an actress. She was acting, according to the script set up by CRS. She fooled him, and she fooled you. Think about it - does any other explanation make sense? |
