comment Why did Kubrick avoid a direct explanation to “Clockwork orange”'s meaning?
@Stefan The title does not refer to sexual orientation. It refers to the idea that an organic entity like an orange (or a human) is nothing more than a mechanical contraption like a clock, and can be re-programmed accordingly.

comment Did the Ludovico technique work on Alex or was he just faking all the time?
@PaulStock at that point of the near-drowning, his friends had overpowered him -- he couldn't fight back

comment Special sunglasses that enable you to see aliens
@AE I don't think the movie suggested the aliens made the glasses-- instead, IIRC, the glasses were made by human rebels. So stop dissing "They Live"! ;)

comment Why are zoom shots rarely used?
This makes sense to me. Zooming usually feels "intense" to the viewer -- it usually sends the message "this shot is very important." Too much use of zoom could be overwhelming to the viewer.

comment Did the Ewoks eat the stormtroopers?
+1 Also note that ROTJ orginally had Wookies in the place eventually filled by Ewoks. The site below says Lucas changed because Ewok-vs-Stormtrooper would be more allegorical of Vietnam War then Wookie-vs-Stormtrooper. virginmedia.com/movies/features/top-ten-jedi-facts.php?page=2

Yes, I think a key part of the story is she lies to and uses him.

comment Why do all post-apocalyptic-set media portray perfect teeth?
+1. Same reasoning explains why almost all of the actors on these shows are much more good-looking than average (and the only ones who aren't have specifically non-sexual roles, like "grandmother" or "wise old man"): because audience members generally prefer to watch attractive characters (whether the audience members are aware of it or not) and tooth decay is not attractive.

comment Why was Birdman on limited release?
@CGCampbell: I really enjoyed Birdman -- which, judging by past experience, suggests the masses will despise it. Definitely an arthouse film.

comment Scientific accuracy of Jurassic Park's premise?
The fact that he has had some success (however small) with extinct lizards suggests, at least to me, that success with dinosaurs could be possible in the future. He's already taken the first steps. Who's to say future technology won't allow someone to go all the way?
