comment Why did the Great Gasby (2013) movie erase the hints of Nick Carraway's homosexuality?
I'm not going to downvote, but you're asking a question about why a director made choices based off of what information exactly? You do give examples that do show the potential for Nick be homosexual but unless there is something by F. Scott to back it up or if it's a well known theory discussed in college literary classes then I don't see how there can be expectations for a director to pick up on these clues that the majority of people haven't.

comment Why is the ending to the film adaptation of “Hannibal” completely different from the novel?
This is more of a comment but you could add your opinion as to why the book ending and movie ending are different.

comment What exactly does a director do in an animated feature?
Wow that article really explained it well thank you. In my head I couldn't see past casting and storyboard what a director could do once the animators started. After all as the article mentioned there is a stage where there can be no major changes and I guess I was thinking most of the process was like that since it can take months to draw or computer animate a scene. This really helped me to see how a director must be involved from the start and all the way through. I've wondered this for years so thank you.

@iandotkelly I don't see how that's possible though. I would try to explain better but I'm having trouble picturing what a director would do.

I've always thought of it as John Smith Optional said that it is a shared "legend" same as the Dread Pirate Scott from Princess Bride.

I don't really see this as a duplicate or even opinion based. The related question asks specifically in the movie why would James Bond use his real name. Although I wasn't aware that others had monikers that would be assumed as a title I thought that was the case just as I thought Bond was an identity passed on with assignment as 007. Out of universe though why continue to have each actor assume they are the same man from 1962 when the world has changed decades. It makes more sense for Bond to be a persona. "I knew a James Bond from the Cold War he always ordered his martinis a certain way"
