comment Why the greenish tint in the Matrix trilogy?
And I would in turn add that the rather contrastless upto dull colouring scheme of the in-Matrix scenes also added to its unrealistic and sterile feeling.

comment To which degree are movies filmed simultaneously in different languages?
Ew, I'm not too inclined to watch that in the original anyway ;-) But interesting idea, would be worth a try.

...But I guess its a matter of taste influenced heavily by habit and practice and there will naturally always be a divide between people used to dubbing and those that aren't, without much mutual agreement. If you're up for a little time wasting experiment, I'd suggest you to watch The Dark Knight Rises in German with English subtitles (which came to my mind as recent example I saw, and loved, in both versions) and tell me what you think. It won't change your mind I'm sure, but I think it's an extremely well done example. But that being said, I understand your points, but still stand by mine

"with speech patterns and local colloquialisms" - Which one might argue fits more naturally to the audience, even if admittedly transforming the original. But I tend to agree it's far less easy for more "exotic" languages with far less common relativeness. Though, those are also the languages I'd be less inclined to watch in the original anyway, this way I'll loose all the impact to the subtitles. But with English and German the connection is large enough to not introduce too many problems. It's really not comparable to a crappily off-sync anime or some weird eastern from the 70s...

"you'll miss all the emotion" - And that makes it sound like really all the emotion, which it's surely not. To me it doesn't matter too much if I'm watching 100% Christian Bale or 50% Christian Bale and 50% David Nathan, as long as both do a good job and fit to each other. Ok, now I'll shut up. ;-)

...Subtitles are extremely distracting and without sutitles I just fear to miss something important or the mental latency of translation (how small it may be, and even far larger for subtitles) keeps me from getting the whole of the emotion as immediately as possible. And dubbing won't vanish even from nowadays' anglicized Germany anyway, that would be like introducing the metric system across the ocean. ;-)

I know, the missing originality of the acting performance is a big argument. But I can't stress enough how extremely well the dubbing industry in my country does its job (I know, I know, it's still not the same). But I am willing to trade a (to me) more natural and direct effect of all the emotion for missing part of the actors craft. While I understand English maybe enough for movie levels and watch original stuff now and then I still prefer dubbing, because it really just feels natural and immediate, sounds paradox, but I'm 1) not a native English speaker, and 2) simply grew up with dubs

If it's that rare I'd pose the question why this was done for Raavanan, but it would feel a bit inappropriate to extend my original question now that you've already given a rather general answer.

This question appears to be off-topic because it is about identifying music and games from a commercial.

"the process of dubbing is rapidly falling out of fashion" - Not everywhere, though (and I'm glad for that).
