comment How was Andy Dufresne able to dig the tunnel for many years without being discovered?
@EllaRibton-Turner: He was digging very slowly and then bring a bit of dirt into the yard every day and disperse there. This is possible to do without being discovered if you have enough time. If you gonna watch the movie again - this is shown near the end of the movie when Red "explains" his escape plan to the viewer.

comment What exactly is the alphanumeric string in A Scandal in Belgravia?
The "operation" was that they packed a certain jet with dead bodies so that the planned terrorist attack looked successful but didn't actually killed anyone. This we do know. How would the string be helpful to them?

comment Why didn't Doc and Marty buy “petrol” in 1885?
Come on, how many bottles would you need to accelerate to 88 mph? One gallon should be more than enough. That's like a dozen bottle. Yes, petrol could happen to be incompatible but it would unlikely be worth than alcohol which they tried.

comment Why didn't Doc and Marty buy “petrol” in 1885?
@Oliver_C: Yes, gas stations appeared much later, but you could buy a lot of curious stuff at a pharmacy which is surely a long known concept. Yes, their closest pharmacy could happen to not have petrol available but they didn't even try.
