comment Why didn't the Vulcan nerve pinch work?
Later in the movie, when on board the Dreadnought class ship, he takes a stun shot from a phaser on the bridge and goes down immediately, while the effects weren't lasting it knocked him out completely.

Interesting...There is an inconsistency with the new and old then.

comment Bradley Cooper's nose
The "scratch" or "scar", on the bridge of his nose looks real. In most movies, injuries sustained as part of the script are usually gone during the course of the movie if not much sooner. This one, while it may seem to lessen in severity, never really disappears and the movie begins with him having it. Why would he get out of the hospital after 8 months, as in the beginning, with this injury? This leads me to believe that it might be a real injury.

comment Lara's pregnancy in Man of Steel
During the time she is giving birth on the table, you can see that her belly is very large like a pregnant woman's, and again, why would it be considered heresy?

comment Where did flatlining come from?
I don't know the origin of the idea to use the flatline sound and machine effect in movies, but it must be very old. It is certainly an effective conveyance to passionately and sadly get the point across that someone has died to the viewer.

comment 3 scenes from Total Recall: The Original vs. The remake
The new version of the movie has it's own good points but it just wasn't as fun as the original. Kate Beckinsale is always easy on the eyes, and the three-boobed gal looked more realistic than the old....but no Mars, no midget, no siamese Quatto, and the full body disguise idea turned out to be electro-optical...instead of mechanical.

comment In Oblivion how can Jack and Victoria live in the sky?
I see what you're saying, unfortunately, we don't know to what extent of an effect the Moon exploding had on the atmosphere...could be that they aren't but as high as say...a hot air balloon might go. you can still float above clouds in one of those...and breathe.

comment First occurrence of subliminal messages in film?
I've not seen a subliminal message in a movie get discovered on a replay of a video or some other form of media. But I've seen someone dream about an experience they had, and see something in their dream that they missed in reality. Laura Palmer's mother see's Laura's killer in her bedroom in the movie version of Twin Peaks...and it's really creepy!

comment How does Professor X actually get paralysed?
Some good info Oliver...another prime example of how the Hollywood folks tend to screw up the real story started from comics...although they are sometimes well done, they aren't correct.

He also showed up at the end of Alien III, is he supposed to be the likeness of the Weyland image or is this a coincidence?

comment The ending in Prometheus
Thanks Oliver...that is a nice explaination of the relationship between David and Elizabeth. I do think, before it's all over with, one of the engineers has to crash one of the ships onto LV-426 to complete the whole prequel franchise of Prometheus.

comment Infection timelines of John Carpenter's The Thing?
The infected timeline is an attempt to put answers where something can't and shouldn't be answered. This is what horrifies the viewer. Carpenter did a great job on playing with your paranoia. In some parts of the film, it appears that even the infected may not know they are infected until they are in close proximity with or alone with another to be infected, or are injured and must react (like in the blood tests). Perfect imitation and the camera not always on all members is what makes it impossible to answer, thus more fun.
