Where did flatlining come from? I don't know the origin of the idea to use the flatline sound and machine effect in movies, but it must be very old. It is certainly an effective conveyance to passionately and sadly get the point across that someone has died to the viewer. |

3 scenes from Total Recall: The Original vs. The remake The new version of the movie has it's own good points but it just wasn't as fun as the original. Kate Beckinsale is always easy on the eyes, and the three-boobed gal looked more realistic than the old....but no Mars, no midget, no siamese Quatto, and the full body disguise idea turned out to be electro-optical...instead of mechanical. |

In Oblivion how can Jack and Victoria live in the sky? I see what you're saying, unfortunately, we don't know to what extent of an effect the Moon exploding had on the atmosphere...could be that they aren't but as high as say...a hot air balloon might go. you can still float above clouds in one of those...and breathe. |

First occurrence of subliminal messages in film? I've not seen a subliminal message in a movie get discovered on a replay of a video or some other form of media. But I've seen someone dream about an experience they had, and see something in their dream that they missed in reality. Laura Palmer's mother see's Laura's killer in her bedroom in the movie version of Twin Peaks...and it's really creepy! |

How does Professor X actually get paralysed? Some good info Oliver...another prime example of how the Hollywood folks tend to screw up the real story started from comics...although they are sometimes well done, they aren't correct. |
