Have there been other candidates to play Jack Reacher? @minusSeven To me it has bearing on the appreciation of the movie. I wanted to avoid the issue, but after having read all Jack Reacher novels, just about the last actor I'd imagine to play this role was Tom Cruise. It would have (slightly) helped me to know that no one else was willing or available. Knowing it was a political game makes me appreciate the movie less. It's not trivial to me, but I don't mind other people having a different opinion. |

Why did Beth not run earlier? Your first point is the only point so far that has some evidence in the movie itself and therefore is somewhat beyond speculation. Beth, in a dialogue with a police officer is very vague as to whether William ever beat her. |

Why did he fall to the ground? IMDB (bottom of the page) considers this a goof, but I assume that, like me, you'd say that's very unlikely in such a crucial scene. |

Why were the writers trying to play up the Chinese as more advanced than the United States? I don't know much about the serial, but maybe someone can build a case for them trying to compensate for some pretty sharp criticism against China. |
