comment Hebrew newspaper in Laurel & Hardy's Blotto?
@James McLeod The explanation is the same - he cannot read it. The question was about the choice of Hebrew over other languages or other ways to demonstrate not being able to read (like broken glasses, for example). If this was just for an American audience, the producers might have chosen some other language, but because they expected it to be released internationally, other audiences were taken into account.

comment Love triangle story in real country setting
Welcome to Stackexchange. We will need more information to help you identify your film. About what year did it come out? Color or b/w? What country? Anything else you can remember about the film?

comment Why is the ghost on the uniform patch making a peace sign?
Could be V for victory rather than being a peace symbol.

comment Why was Edward given scissors instead of hands?
The OP asks why the inventor did not use prosthetic hands from the beginning. The answer, I think, is because the movie starts from Burton's vision. The hands are the whole premise for the movie... But I am cool with you not liking my answer!

comment Are Greg House's Life Lessons Accurate?
I would call them observations more than lessons, and they are "cup half empty" kinds of observations. Yes, everyone lies at some time or other, but most people tell the truth most of the time, most people value honesty, and many lies are told for fair reasons. House has a negative, myopic view of the world through which he sees his truths.

comment Significance of number 1239 in The Santa Clause
I looked for connections between the writers (Leo Benvenuti and Steve Rudnik) and the Simpsons, but so far have turned up nothing... Was hoping that by posting this much, someone else might be able to help establish such a connection. Until then, it's entertaining speculation!

Love Mr. Bean. Would be interesting to find a list of international box office takings. 82% of the takings from Bean were in countries other than the US!

comment Which episode marks the first appearance of Walt's hat in Breaking Bad?
I read that his putting on the hat in season 3 marks the emergence of Heisenberg, so it's a first in that respect.

comment What happened to the production between seasons 5 and 6 of the 2003 TMNT series?
The point of this answer is that the marked change came because the series was shown out of order, so the continuity was affected. The OP indicated reading Wikipedia, but there are MANY articles on Wikipedia, and it is possible he/she missed this particular article. I spent hours searching for other sources, but found none. The quote is accurate as the Wikipedia page stood at the time of posting, but it has been edited multiple times since.

comment Was that Julie Newmar on Thriller's S01E28?
It actually took following a chain of sites, as the actress in question is not listed as a victim and none of the actresses has a photo in imdb.

comment What poster is this?
That was a fun challenge...Found the scene, then looked for album covers that came out in 2000 (since the film came out in 2001)...

comment Was Hitchcock fascinated by the nascent field of brain science while filming “The Lady Vanishes”?
I really enjoyed the film and the research. The book is free at the link - I've downloaded the pdf and have read quite a bit of it.

I just saw this episode again, and I think you are right!

comment Was Hitchcock fascinated by the nascent field of brain science while filming “The Lady Vanishes”?
I have found indications (though not directly related to this film) that Hitchcock was interested in hypnosis/hypnotherapy which was developmentally young in the 30s, but he struggled with how to show a hypnotic state on film. So far no evidence of an interest in brain surgery. Haven't given up though - love a challenge!

comment How can Penny afford a one bedroom apartment on a waitress salary?
As you note, she freeloads quite a bit, and the apartment is not flashy - the elevator hasn't worked in 7 years. Surely there are plenty of waitresses renting apartments in California. The PhDs across the hall are researchers, not professors, so their salaries may be quite average, and Sheldon keeps a roommate because he needs a driver.

comment What is the significance of the water in Ingmar Bergman's The Virgin Spring?
@ChristianRau So sorry - I am not sure I understand the reasoning behind that. The question only applies to this movie and the question seemed a bit vague without it.
