"To avoid criticism do nothing, say nothing, be nothing.."
(Elbert Hubbard)

I studied Physics at the University of Vienna, but I'm interested in all natural sciences.

Since I don't believe in life after death I try to explore and learn as much as I can about this world.

comment Meaning of the line “I'm not a psychopath, I'm a highly functioning sociopath”
Stop Calling Sherlock a Sociopath! Thanks, a Psychologist.: "... psychopaths and sociopaths are the exact same thing. There is no difference. Whatsoever. Psychopathy is the term used in modern clinical literature, while sociopathy is a term that was coined by G. E. Partridge in 1930 to emphasize the disorder's social transgressions and that has since fallen out of use."

comment Is Extant only the SECOND national primetime scripted TV-drama with a female African-American lead?
How about Nichelle Nichols from Star Trek (1966): "She gained popular recognition by being one of the first black women featured in a major television series not portraying a servant." - Or a more recent example: Nicole Beharie, the female lead of Sleepy Hollow.

comment Are more movie stars acting in TV shows nowadays (and if so, why)?
[continued]... Generally I would consider US televison to be part of Hollywood, as the TV networks and cable channels have ties with movie studios, e.g. 'ABC <-> Disney', 'NBC <-> Universal', 'HBO & TNT <-> Warner', 'FX <-> Fox', ... - And movie actors doing television aren't really 'lost' to movies. Bryan Cranston did Total Recall and Godzilla, Matthew McConaughey stars in Interstellar, and Jeff Daniels, Peter Dinklage, Steve Buscemi, Halle Barry,... they all have upcoming movies. So it's not like they have to choose one or the other, they can do both.

@JohnSmithOptional - Can you explain what you mean with exodus from Hollywood? I'm not sure Hollywood has "lost" Steven Spielberg, he produced e.g. the Transformers movies and is also involved with the upcoming Jurassic World (plus, he is currently producing the TV shows Under the Dome, Falling Skies and Extant).

@ewkochin - I'll use Fringe as an example: Season 4 had 22 episodes and principal photography took about 9 months; Compare that to Season 5 with 13 episodes and 5 months of filming.

comment Are more movie stars acting in TV shows nowadays (and if so, why)?
The key to this is a shorter season, i.e. 10-15 episodes instead of the usual 20-something. This leaves the actors enough time to also do movies.

comment Looking for Movie's Title, 80's or early 90's buddy movie (with monsters)
I'm guessing it's the same as this question: From 1985, My Science Project, the skinny italien guy is Vince Latello, played by Fisher Stevens. You can see the 'End Credits' here (the full movie is also on YouTube).

comment How did they create The Shadow's disguise?
Jurassic Park (1993) did a facial substitution. Ariana Richards' face was superimposed onto that of a stunt woman. To quote the actress: 'That was actually a landmark moment for film special effects. It was the first time that something like that had been done.'

comment How does Neal Caffrey make a living?
The $700 is payed by the FBI. In the pilot Peter tries to put Neal in a motel, because there is nothing better for $700. Neal of course does find something better for that price and Peter accepts it because the rent is within the given limit. - I'm guessing the police/FBI didn't seize all of Neal's funds when he was arrested, unless they were able to prove that all of his money came from illegal activities.

comment What are light meters needed for in digital movies?
Shooting a scene can sometimes take several days, or even several locations (e.g. Transformers 4 shot in Hong Kong, but also built a "Hong Kong" set in Detroit). Obviously one would want it to have the same "look". Recreating the lighting from the other day/location can be done much easier and faster if you use a light meter.

comment In the movies - Do wire transfers really work?
Maybe one should point out that officially: Swiss banking secrecy is not unlimited. If there are suspicions of criminal activities such as terrorism, organized crime, money laundering or tax fraud, it is lifted – and the authorities are given access to banking information. AND No anonymous accounts exist in Switzerland. The bank is obliged to know the identity of the account holder, and of the actual financial beneficiary if applicable.
