comment Geometric figures in the corner of TV shows—why were they there?
@Richard: Thank you, but I'm pretty sure that's not it. First, it was not on live shows, but on recorded shows. Second, those shows/movies had no ad breaks, and back then the closing credits were shown in full in German TV, giving more than enough cue when the show was over. Also those cue dots seem to stay for quite a long time (and are animated), while those figures I'm speaking about immediately disappeared again.

comment old parody about sperm
Here's the relevant part of the movie @steelerfan mentioned: youtube.com/watch?v=dh4LikiGBrQ (the sperms appear close to the middle of that clip) — is that what you remember?

comment How realistic was Robinson Crusoe on Mars when it came out?
@AndrewThompson: On the other hand, IIRC the only life forms he encounters on Mars are (1) visitors from another planet, and (2) some plants (which might not be originally from Mars, but also be brought there by those other visitors).

@DisgruntledGoat: There is also a movie from 1998 based on the TV series, also titled The Avengers.

Is there any evidence that real pirates generally had rotten teeth?

comment A movie with a spacechip whose crew contained robots disguised as humans
Thank you, that sounds like it is the right movie (and it shows how much the right search terms matter; I did search with different keywords — don't remember which — without success).

Just a wild guess: Make the scene change less abrupt.

comment What is the significance of the silver goo in the Matrix?
From "Through the Looking Glass": And certainly the glass was beginning to melt away, just like a bright silvery mist. Source

comment Is there any (real-world) significance to the numbers 28:06:42:12?
The movie story happens in about 28 days, and the movie was shot in 28 days. So the movie was effectively shot in real time.

comment What operating system does Tony Stark use on his office desktop?
From the pictures, I'd say it's inspired by OS X.
