Is the brain sequence similar to reality or not? @TylerShads actually, not most brain procedures. This is done when removing parts of the brain that cause seizures. Often the person experiences a sensation before a seizure occurs. By stimulating parts of the brain suspected of causing the seizure the patient can say if they're experiencing the sensation (i.e. smelling burnt toast before a seizure). So when they smell toast the Doctor removes that part of the brain. No more seizure! If they were removing a brain tumor they would keep the patient sedated. |

Where did flatlining come from? At the hospital near me they don't use those machines. The heart monitoring is done via computer at the nurses station. The on duty nurse can see all the patients heart beats for that entire department. When they have to do it by the patients bed, then the machine just displays a digital number of the current heart rate. I don't know if it beeps, but there is no visual dot moving horizontally. That's been my experience. EDIT: Maybe they use them, but I haven't seen any. |
