Started programming at 8 years old on Sinclair ZX81, with 1k of RAM, which I quickly used up causing it to crash, and my parents to buy me a 16k expansion pack.
A couple years later we got a BBC Model B on which I learned further, including VDU graphics and Sprite Generation. I mostly wrote games at this point.
To cut a long story short I got BSc in Applied Computing in 1995 from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, with a final year project in connecting a website to a database using cgi scripts written in C, and eventually started a career as a web programmer, mostly for internal intranet systems and currently a software as a service web and ivr survey system, mostly working on the reporting side of things.

Alternate conclusions of The Usual Suspects @AndrewThompson Hmm. I've watched the film multiple times, but it has been a few years. I'll have a look out for the plot flaw you suggest next time I look as I can't recall for certain exactly what is implied they saw. So maybe you are right after all... |

Alternate conclusions of The Usual Suspects @AndrewThompson I think the benefit was that the cops weren't witnesses to him actually doing anything. |

Are Teletubbies prisoners? @ChristianRau Further I think its less that we treat children as prisoners so much as we treat prisoners like children (in so much as we take away the rights and responsibilities they'd normally be entrusted as adults). |

Are Teletubbies prisoners? @ChristianRau In the words of Malaclypse the Younger "Sometimes I take humor seriously. Sometimes I take seriousness humorously. Either way it is irrelevant." ;-) |

Why were the writers trying to play up the Chinese as more advanced than the United States? @TylerShads Yes, that would be a good more recent example! Another film that springs to mind is 'Strange Days', although that is still the Japanese businessman with superior tech trope. Firefly reflects the shift in concern to China. |
