The Hobbit is a series of three epic fantasy-adventure films.The films are, by subtitle, An Unexpected Journey, The Desolation of Smaug and There and Back Again, due for theatrical release in 2012, 2013 and 2014, respectively.The series acts as a prequel to Jackson's The Lord of the Rings series.
