In what position, relative to the series episodes, should the christmas specials be viewed?

Looking at the Wikipedia episode guide original air dates, I see that Christmas Special 2011 aired after season 2 and the 2012 special after season 3.

In fact, while they're called "Christmas specials," that doesn't carry the same significance that it might for an American show. It's best to just think of them as the season finales of the various seasons. – jlmcdonald Jan 21 at 5:06
