In Iron Man 2, there is a device on Pepper's desk in her office room. What is the name of this device? Is this device has a special name? (right of the flowers)

@AidanO - there is a difference of opinion between people on this sites about what is and isn't trivia and whether this is interesting or off topic - I would rather personally we just let these go and allow people to vote on how interesting they are. In defense of the Big Bang Theory question one could argue that it is more unusual to have that item in your apartment than a simple desk toy - and might reflect on how geeky the characters are. – iandotkelly♦ Jan 10 at 14:11

In defense of this question (and of my answer ;)) one might argue that filmmakers compose their shots with a specific intent in mind. This desk toy is distracting enough to not merely be a prop, so perhaps the question should be amended to read 'what does this item allude to?'. – Nobby Jan 10 at 15:50

The device is a modified version of Newton's Cradle. Except that it contains magnets to alter the rotation of the objects.

That item is a magnetic desk toy, found on quite a few desks after this film I would guess :)

I managed to find a video of it for you.
