I'm looking for a thriller about a group of kidnappers wearing Santa Claus masks and taking a group of kidnapees into a cave. It could be from the early 90s or thereabouts. I remember very little from this movie. Is there an old man getting shot by a shotgun and falling over an aquarium? There may also have been a scene with the kidnapees swimming to safety through an underwater channel or something.

Could it be Fortress?

Fortress is about a teacher and her students who are kidnapped by thugs wearing masks (one of which looks like Santa Claus). I believe they spend some time in a cave.

Here is a trailer for it:

I think this is probably it ... the kidnapees were members of a school class in a small Australia town. They called the kidnapper with the Santa Mask "Father Christmas." – jlmcdonald Oct 16 '12 at 3:32

That's it! Thanks! – user3200 2 days ago

In a hit and miss way, it sorta sounds like you're mixing Reindeer Games with one or more movies, but I may be wrong.

I see your point, but Reindeer Games is way too new (2000) for it to be the answer. It is by 99,9% certainty the movie Fortress, as mentioned above. – user3200 Oct 16 '12 at 9:13
