I recently watched Catch Me If You Can (2002) and my mother told me she have also watched a movie a bit like that, but she can't remember the name. So here are some points that she does remember:

  • The convict is a single, very rich woman
  • She mostly steals (eg: diamonds) from museums and high-scale jewelry shops
  • She cannot be caught (much like DiCaprio in Catch Me If You Can)
  • She changes her identity all the time
  • Maybe from the 80's or 90's (not sure though)

So does anyone know of a movie like this?

Thanks.

did you ever find this movie? If you did then what is its name? :) – user3742 Dec 29 '12 at 21:03
@user3742 No, still didn't find it... Any idea of such a movie? – Roshnal Dec 31 '12 at 3:16
Maybe he is referring to a this mini-series: If tomorrow comes (1986). Check out it's wiki page. – Fuzzball Feb 10 at 10:22

I don't think it fits that well, but it may be a try (be it only to exclude it for other potential answerers):

When talking about a woman thief, I incidentally thought about The Real McCoy from 1993, a movie where Kim Basinger plays a thief/safecracker. But she isn't rich or does it all the time for fun. She gets released from prison and wants to start a clean life with her son, but gets pressed to do another job by her former boss.

Nope, this isn't it. My mom said that the woman-thief is insanely rich and only does it for fun... :) Thanks for the answer though, will check this out. +1 – Roshnal Aug 18 '12 at 13:35
