I saw a German movie on TV that had an ordinary guy in it who befriended these three women who ran a boutique - I remember it had a polished wooden floor. The women subsequently turned out to be aliens or something. Trains figured in it somehow - very hazy on that part. Anyone remember this?

It was a mid-to-late 80s film and I think the lead guy was a postman.

Any other details that may help identification. When did you watch it? What time was it likely from? Any additional plot elements you might remember? Anything? See the help center for further information. – Napoleon Wilson May 27 '14 at 15:32
It's German and has a guy with 3 alien ladies. Give it a while. Give it a chance for the OP to remember more and improve, or for someone to figure it out. We want to retain members. It's only been two hours for $@#*'s sake! Sorry about the strong language. : ) – Meat Trademark May 27 '14 at 17:50
@MeatTrademark: I'd be fascinated to see, if this question did get closed, who voted to close. Even with all the meta questions going on there doesn't seem to be consensus over what is acceptable detail in an identify-this-movie question. – Andrew Martin May 28 '14 at 8:40
And BOOM. It took less than 24 hours for someone to get it. So many VTC Eager Beavers here. With little power comes no responsibility... – Meat Trademark May 28 '14 at 13:26

Might be the German film Der Philosoph (AKA '3 Women In Love') from 1989. According to online info, it's about a shy 30 year old philosopher working on his thesis that meets 3 women who run a boutique and are possibly imaginary or muses. He falls for all three and moves in with them. See if this clip from the movie (that seems to feature a polished wooden floor) rings any bells.

That's it! Thanks very much indeed! I've been scratching my head about this one for years! – jeffster May 28 '14 at 9:10
