I'm trying to find old cartoon (not sure about author of other part of cartoon);

One moment there are speedy, unrealistic cars driving in one direction - it's green light for them, and another moment there is red light for them and green for vertical road cars and immediately they start driving fast while the first ones wait.

Also there are cars that are taking a right turn and wait for people that are crossing.

I think it has something to do with a cartoon where some sort of USA history is displayed in a funny way - from first settlers till industrial revolutions but in a funny way with no real characters but with a narrator.

I hope I managed to explain enough for someone to recognize this cartoon. It is old (older than 80's I think).

I've been searching YouTube and Wikipedia for few days now but no success, so I posted the question here.

This question came from our site for science fiction and fantasy enthusiasts.

This sounds like a Disney Goofy cartoon from the 60's or 70's. – General Decline May 22 '14 at 15:31
Sounds a bit like Hanna-Barbera's Whacky Races from the late 60s. – Mr Lister May 22 '14 at 18:56
This is a common theme in some of those old cartoons (Disney, Tex Avery, Warner Bros., etc.). Do you remember any character from it (even just those being portrayed)? – Mario Jun 22 '14 at 10:36

This could quite possibly be the 16 minute Disney cartoon Freewayphobia #1, starring Goofy, who demonstrates how not to drive on the freeway. This film was later incorporated into "Man on Wheels", Season 13, Episode 24 of Walt Disney's 1967 Wonderful World of Color.

Yes, it looks like, and is simmilar but it is not it... but also a great finding :) – Vedran Mile Tomljanovic May 23 '14 at 7:51

I remember a dystopian style cartoon short on MTVs liquid television in the early 90s maybe late 80s. The racers were going so fast that they would strain under what seemed the mental strain of controlling the cars. I don't recall most of the plot but that it was put together in a nonlinear fashion. It was almost like F-Zero animated with a telekinetic twist in keeping the cars together and going at such high rates of speed.

Sorry I don't know more about the rest of it. The green light, red light thing does sound familiar though with cuts of another subplot which is why I am posting this.

There was some narration but no focus on characters and it was all just displayed instead of explained.

I believe the one I am thinking of was called The Running Man.
