There is a movie from the 70s/80s/90s about a police officer (possibly a lieutenant) whose family is killed by the Mafia and his policemen stay loyal to him and help him find the mafia.

I know this sounds similar to Road to Perdition, but it is not the same movie. The only scene I can remember from the movie is the police officer standing in the rain with his fellow officers.

I believe it was in New York or in New Jersey, but I'm not sure.

This is both a common theme in movies, and a broad timeframe. Can you narrow either of them? –  iandotkelly Oct 8 '13 at 19:10

@coleopterist Instead of retagging the TV-show we should rather dump the stupid general meaning of the revenge tag. –  Napoleon Wilson Oct 8 '13 at 20:39

That's all I remember from the movie, unfortunately –  Ovais Oct 9 '13 at 5:20

@ChristianRau ... especially considering "Revenge" is actually the name of two different movies I'm aware of (though the tag's general A dish best served cold makes for a very lame tag as you suggest). –  Paulster2 Oct 9 '13 at 10:42

It doesn't sound that similar to Road to Perdition at all. –  Napoleon Wilson Oct 9 '13 at 13:29
