Movie I am thinking of came out in the 1980s, and was on HBO when I saw it in 86 or 87; takes place during some sort of war in the present-day or near future US, one that features rival gangs or factions. Plot includes a boy who loses both parents to a hitman-type in a track suit and pony-tail. The boy's grandfather or uncle is a veteran suffering from some type of flashbacks. Also, the boy has a snow-globe that he drops and breaks when his mom is killed. He suits up and shoots the bad guy. For old man, think older Charles Bronson; for villain, guy almost looked like the bad guy in Karate Kid III, and uses a Dirty Harry-style revolver. Really been bothering me. Please help!

I don't know this movie, but I do know of an actor who (with long hair, anyway) looks a bit like Thomas Ian Griffith (the guy from Karate Kid III): Michael Wincott (who usually plays a bad guy). Something I can't place though, is an old type revolver you mentioned in a (post-)modern setting. Are you sure about that revolver? –  poepje May 29 '13 at 18:24

Also, I don't get the sequence of events you're describing; does the boy shoot the hitman immediately after he shoots his parents, or some time later? –  poepje May 29 '13 at 18:25
