Sorry this is going to be really vague as I only have a faint recollection of one scene from the movie.

It's a scene where a girl and a guy (maybe drunk), late teenage, are in a living room/lounge and they put on a vinyl record, onto what looks like a Gramophone player, which plays an 80s sounding love song ballad and they dance to it. A 3rd friend (male) joins them and they huddle and dance. The 3rd friend is smoking. I'm sure there is a camera shot from 'inside' the huddle looking up at the 3 friends.

I think it was some kind of coming of age movie possible with some psychological element to it. This film is probably at least 8-10 years old.

Is it the dreamers by any chance. This is a coming of age movie as well. Plot is about three people in their late teens who are staying together in an apartment. They are all interested in movies.

This is also 8-10 years old. Seemed like similar to what you asking for.

Having a link to the movie you are guessing is fine, but could you please add a bit of the movie's plot information that matches up with what the OP is asking for? – TylerShads Apr 5 '13 at 12:33
Hi, thanks for trying, but no it is not the dreamers unfortunately. – LostBoy Apr 6 '13 at 16:49
Good guess. That was my first thought too. – coleopterist May 16 '13 at 15:51

It sounds like it could be Beautiful Ohio. It is a coming of age film set in the 70s. There is a group of friends (two males, one female) and one of the friend's brother that the film follows. There is kind of a psychological element to it, different from most coming of age films, but I don't want to spoil the movie for anyone. It also came out in 2006, so only 7 years ago.

Doesn't seem to be that either, from what I can see. I'm sure the last time I saw the film was 8-10 years ago, on TV so it's probably at least a couple years older than that. Thanks though. – LostBoy Apr 26 '13 at 17:49
