I am trying to remember\find the movie that had the quote that went something like this:

It's not that I hate my father, it's just that I feel better when he's not around.

I must have the quote wrong, because I can't find it on IMDB.

At least 2 very similar quotes in Barfly (1987), but they're not about fathers:

Quote 1:

Wanda: I can't stand people, I hate them.

Henry: Oh yeah?

Wanda: Do you hate them?

Henry: No, but I seem to feel better when they're not around.

Quote 2:

Wanda: I hate the police, don't you?

Henry: I don't know, but I seem to feel better when they're not around.
